Message from Pastor Zach:
I am excited that this Sunday, July 9th, we will begin our summer sermon series called “Why We Do What We Do.” Many things we do as a church are good, but sometimes we go through the motions or just do things without even knowing what they mean. I hope that through this sermon series we can make what we do more meaningful and substantial, causing us to worship God all the more by what we do.
The bible gives great precedence for this as well. Right before the Passover, God told Israel that every year at this time they were to commemorate the Passover for seven days. And then in Exodus 12:26-27 it says this: And when your children say to you, ‘What do you mean by this service?’ you shall say, ‘It is the sacrifice of the Lord’s Passover, for he passed over the houses of the people of Israel in Egypt, when he struck the Egyptians but spared our houses.’” And the people bowed their heads and worshiped. The point wasn’t just to teach kids; it was for all of them to have a way to remember God’s faithfulness, power and deliverance, not just for that week, but in all of their lives.
My hope is that through this sermon series we would all have a firm understanding of why we do what we do. And more so, that we would worship our God all the more for years to come by doing what we do with deeper purpose.
